How to choose a fax machine: * How Often will you be using the Fax? If you'll only be sending a few pages daily you can go with one of the lower-end models that are a bit slower and don't have as many features. But if you're you'll be sending or receiving 50 or more pages a day - you may want to invest in a top-of-the-line model that won't take a long time to print your incoming documents.
* What Kind Of Documents Will you be sending? Are the pages hi-resolution or low? If they need to be sent securely, without worry that they will be altered, or may be long, multi-page documents, you may want to consider either a higher-end model. You can also use .pdf documents, which can be created with Adobe's Acrobat * Will you be sending local or long distance? Buying a lower priced fax machine will almost certainly save you money in the initial purchase, but if you'll be sending a lot of faxes - especially long distance - check that your fax machine has a relatively fast transmission speed. If you opt for a slow, low-price fax machine, the money you initially save on a low-end computer could soon be inconsequential when compared to your phone bill.
* What size paper will you be using? Some fax machines are only capable of using letter-sized (8.5" x 11") paper, or can only use legal-sized via the manual feed, which doesn't hold very many pages.
Unusually low prices may indicate low quality in parts and construction. Be wary of machines with 90-day manufacturer's warranties; most machines come with a one-year warranty.
